Plantd (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the “Service”).

  • Account information (email address, display name) when you create an account
  • Authentication data when you sign in via email, Apple, or Google
  • User preferences and settings within the app

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage data (lessons completed, streaks, XP progress)
  • Device information (device type, operating system version)
  • App interaction data (features used, session duration)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Track your learning progress, streaks, and achievements
  • Personalize your experience and content recommendations
  • Send you notifications about your streaks and progress (with your permission)
  • Provide AI-powered Bible study guidance
  • Respond to your support requests

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Supabase: For authentication and secure data storage. Supabase Privacy Policy
  • Google Gemini AI: For the AI Bible study companion feature (“Root”). The following data may be processed by Google's Gemini API:
    • Your chat messages sent to Root
    • Recent conversation history (up to 10 messages for context)
    • Your selected Bible translation preference
    • Personalization insights from prior conversations (e.g., topics of interest, not personally identifiable information)

    What is NOT shared: Your name, email address, location, device identifiers, or any other personally identifiable information is never sent to the AI service.

    All requests are securely proxied through our servers. Google does not use your data to train AI models. Google provides equivalent data protection as described in the Google Privacy Policy.

    Your consent is required before any data is shared with the AI service. You may decline and still use the app with offline Bible study features.

  • Apple Sign In / Google Sign In: For authentication only. We receive your email and name; we do not access other account data.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time through the app settings or by contacting us.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), secure token storage, and row-level security on our database. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data and account
  • Opt out of push notifications at any time
  • Export your data in a portable format

7. Children's Privacy

Plantd is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
